Core Web Vitals have been a ranking factor since 2021. Most Saudi websites still fail them. If your site loads slowly or jumps around while reading, you are losing rankings and customers. Here is what each metric means and how to fix it.

LCP (Largest Contentful Paint): Your hero image or headline

LCP measures how long the biggest visible element on your page takes to load. Google wants it under 2.5 seconds. Most Saudi business sites sit between 4 and 8 seconds.

How to fix LCP

Compress your hero image. Convert JPEGs to WebP or AVIF. Use a CDN. Remove render-blocking JavaScript. If your site is on a cheap shared server in Saudi Arabia, consider upgrading or using a CDN with local edge servers.

The easiest fix: resize your hero image to no larger than 1200px wide. Most sites serve images that are 4000px wide because the designer uploaded them straight from their camera. That is 3 seconds of load time you can reclaim in 2 minutes.

INP (Interaction to Next Paint): The new FID

INP replaced First Input Delay in 2024. It measures how quickly your page responds when someone clicks or taps. Google wants it under 200 milliseconds. High INP makes your site feel sluggish.

How to fix INP

Reduce JavaScript execution time. Break up long tasks. Defer non-critical scripts. If your site runs heavy analytics, live chat widgets, and Facebook pixels all at once, INP will suffer. Audit your third-party scripts and remove what you do not actually use.

CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift): The page that jumps

CLS measures unexpected movement while the page loads. You have experienced this — you try to click a button and an ad loads above it, pushing everything down. Google wants CLS under 0.1.

How to fix CLS

Set explicit width and height on all images and embeds. Reserve space for ads before they load. Do not inject content above existing content after the page has started rendering. A Saudi news site with 15 banner ads will almost certainly fail CLS unless each slot has a reserved space.

The Saudi-specific problem

Many Saudi websites run on outdated CMS platforms with bloated templates. Add slow hosting, unmetered image galleries, and 10+ tracking scripts, and your Core Web Vitals collapse. The fix is not expensive. It requires someone who knows what to look for. Run your homepage through PageSpeed Insights today. If it scores under 60, you have work to do.
