Google Suspended Your Business Profile? Here's How to Fix It
GBP suspension is stressful but fixable. Step-by-step reinstatement guide with exactly what to include in your appeal.
Google Business Profile
Overview

Your Google Business Profile is suspended. Your phone stopped ringing. Your competitors are taking the calls you should be getting. This is fixable, but you need to do it right. One wrong appeal can extend your suspension by weeks.
The three most common suspension reasons
First: keyword stuffing in your business name. If your name is 'Cairo Dental Clinic — Best Dentist in Cairo — Teeth Whitening,' Google flags it. Your business name should match your legal business registration. Anything after that reads as keyword spam.
Second: fake or inaccurate address. Using a virtual office, PO box, or residential address for a business that serves customers elsewhere — without hiding the address — gets you suspended. Google verifies addresses against postal records and Street View.
Third: service area abuse. Setting a 50-km service radius when you operate in one neighborhood signals spam. Google knows how far a local plumber can reasonably travel. Keep your radius realistic.
The reinstatement process step by step
Step one: identify the violation. Google sends a suspension email with the reason — but it's often vague. Search the GBP help forum for the exact wording. Other business owners have posted the same suspension reason with detailed fixes.
Step two: fix the violation before you appeal. If you had keywords in your name, change your name to match your registration. If your address was wrong, update it. Appeals submitted without fixing the problem are auto-rejected.
Step three: prepare your appeal documents. You need: your business license or commercial registration, a utility bill matching your business address, and photos of your storefront showing your business name on the exterior. If you're a service-area business, photos of your equipment or vehicle with your branding.
What to include in your appeal text
Be direct. State your business name, the date of suspension, what you believe the violation was, and what you changed to fix it. Attach all three documents. Do not argue. Do not say 'I saw other businesses doing it.' Google does not care about fairness arguments. Show them you understand the policy and fixed the issue.
How long reinstatement takes
Typical response time is 3-7 days. Some cases take up to 14 days. If you don't hear back in 7 days, reply to the same email thread — do not submit a new appeal. Starting a new ticket resets your place in the queue. One clean appeal is better than three messy ones.
Prevention: keep your profile clean
Once reinstated, never change your business name casually. Never use a virtual address. Never stuff keywords anywhere Google can read them — name, description, services, posts. Publish normal content, respond to reviews-on-google" class="text-secondary underline hover:no-underline font-medium">reviews, and keep your info consistent across every platform. Most suspensions don't happen because of one mistake. They happen because of accumulated small violations that Google's automated systems eventually detect.
If it's been more than 14 days with no response, contact Google Support via X (Twitter) @GoogleMyBiz. Include your case ID in the DM. This is the fastest escalation path I've found.
